Guest guest
Hi All, Haven't been to the group site for a while. My daughter was diagnosed with RA (she's 40) about a year ago. Her rheumy put her on Placquinil and Celebrex and later on Methotrexate along with sleeping pills and several pain meds. After a year there was no improvement, no joint damage but still a lot of inflammation and a lot of pain meds. After talking to several people she went to see a recommended Naturapath in a nearby town. It has been an amazing journey. After one week the inflammation was down and she was off the sleeping pills and was down from 8 to 12 pain pills to only 2 a day. We are now heading into week 3 and she is off the Methotrexate also and her regular rhuemy says whatever she's doing is working as the inflammation is going down. He also said that sometimes RA is caused by a food allergy. She is on supplements for inflammation and sleeping and has had two allergy treatments at the Naturapath's office. She is on a detox diet for 6 weeks (only meat and vegetables, no yeast, sugar, gluten, fruits, caffiene or dairy products and only water to drink), which she's not crazy about but has already learned that sugar is a trigger food. After this week she can start to add fruits back in one at a time. This will continue over the course of time, adding one food back to see how it effects her. She is hoping to be able to get off the Placquinil and the Celebrex and end up only taking a milder form of anti-inflammatory. I know this is not for everyone but felt I just had to share as it's been amazing for her. Neither of us thought it would work this well or this quickly. Best of luck to all of you suffering from this nasty condition. And don't give up. Sometimes options do work. willow
