Guest guest
, I took remicaide for years with no side effects. I was able to tell a difference the next day. I have not taken any other infusion type medication, so I can't tell you how it compares. I am hopefully getting back on remicade (just waiting for approval and going back in tomorrow for the results of my TB test). I loved being on remicade. It's been a few years since I was on it and I don't remember any of the possible side effects. It made a huge world of difference for me. I hope it works for you and well as it worked for me in the past. Best of luck to you. > > Hi, > > I was wondering if anyone in the group takes Remicade, and if there > are notable side effects from it that I should be aware of. Guest guest
My Uncle (in his mid 60's) is on Remicade, and has wonderful luck with it, and no side effects. Guest guest
mary, thanks i'm still a little scared.i have been on enbrel for 7 years.it just stopped working.i'll talk to my doc again. i was scared when i went on enbrel. with all this hot weather.pain has not been to bad. hope every one is well ann nj From: McNally <McNacks@...> Subject: Re: [ ] remicade Date: Friday, July 18, 2008, 11:16 AM Hi Ann, I was on Remicade from July 07 till May 08, I only stopped it because I got an infection after each treatment but one, so my new rheumy said let's try something else, I will be going to Orencia. As far as the treatments go, they were so easy, I never had one problem. I know three other people who have been on it for some time and it has been a lifesaver for them. I think you just have to try until you find the right one. I will only do an infusion biologic because I like the idea of an RN there if I have a problem (I'm a big chicken). As far as lymphoma goes, I asked my old rheumy that and his reply was that RA can cause cancer alone and the risks are small. Remember, it's the quality not the quantity. in PA [ ] remicade i am 56 years old had ra since i was 32.been on all meds. now doc wants me to go on remicade.is there any one over 50 on remicade.have you has any side effects. i read material on this med. it can cause lymphoma,or other cancers.need some input.i don't post much, but i read all. your help will be appreciated. thanks ann nj
Guest guest
Ann NJ, Barbara and the group; I just read about enbrel can cause cancer. I am interested on any comments regarding enbrel. My rheumy may give me that. She may give me remicade to. I am on MTX now. and I don't feel any pain relief on that. Also talking Sulfa. The pain patches are great, except it only helps where you put them and you can only put 3 of them on. I want to put them anywhere and everywhere lol but can only use 3. I can just see me with white patches all over my body haaaaaaaaaa, Thanks Barbara for commenting about my writing being funny and good to read. I was wondering if I was writing to many comments. Writing about it seems to help me and especially reading all the comments are very interesting and informative. Hmmmm A lot of RA products can cause cancer. Haaaaaaaaaa the carcinogens we breath can cause cancer. Processed foods can cause cancer. I am concerned about enbrel causing cancer cause I just read 50 per cent people taking it got cancer. No not taking it yet. Let us know how the Enbrel works Ann NJ. Wow remicade can cause cancer to. OMG Ann NJ you had RA just short of 25 years. Ann NJ was it in remission during that time and if so how long? Right statistics can be coincidence. But that 50 per cent is a big percentage. But you know what, If my doctor gives it to me I will try it, that's how bad my pain gets. I am out of pain patches. Hope I get some more they do give me relief. Guest guest
Hi Clora May, can you tell me where you read that about Enbrel causing cancer in 50 percent of the people taking it? My husaband has Ankylosing Spondylitis and it is one of the medications he takes for it. He is now on antibiotics for a uniary tract infection caused more than likely from the lowered resistance to infections from taking Enbrel. He is on his second 10 day prescription. The Enbrel is helping him. He's been on it for about six months now. He also takes Arthrotec, Vicodin and Plaquenil for the AS. Hope that you will do better. Guest guest
Clora, I do believe you are incorrect in your statement that 50% of people taking Enbrel get cancer. You can contact each of the biologic drug makers and request brochures to educate yourself on these new drugs. in PA [ ] Re: remicade @gro ups.com Date: Friday, July 18, 2008, 4:34 PM My Uncle (in his mid 60's) is on Remicade, and has wonderful luck with it, and no side effects. Guest guest
Hello group and Clora, Yes your posts are alive and definitely come over so honest, funny and refreshing, 'new member' Clora, you speak accross the miles/' pond ' (so clearly!!) of all the puzzles, pains, 'no right answers' and pits of these horrible conditions. I wish to give gentle hugs in place of hand-shakes to you personally! I have joined here (since spring) on behalf of of a close friend ,RA sufferer in UK, without computer; it is wonderful to connect with this feeling, supportive group and there is such a wealth of experience, information and warm sharing. I feel very humble but heartened. in this company. Just wanted to add a little PS about the remicade risks.. I think and others have put it clearly, but often press etc get 'statistics' very wrong and distorted...mixing probabilities compared with that of a normal person of something happening, with absolute risk that it WILL happen making it very confusing. It might be that ONE paper said they found a 50% increase in RISK occurs of cancer on remicade. That means that (that study only ) might have shown that if you took remicade your cancer risks over a life time MIGHT be half as big again as they were before.Put that in perspective..It is NOT saying 50% will get cancer..... and as and others have shown other papers give different evidence! Guest guest
Retired Doc and always Group Doc thank you for those kind poetic words, they really moved me. I was so sad for giving wrong information and your sweet words made me deal with it so much easier. Group I love you all so much.. I shake your hand Doc hardily and group I shake your hands wonderfully to be able to share our experiences together. I am a very talkative person in life so I tend to chat on line a lot as well. Thank you Doc for clearing statistics up. How funny they can be. What is really cool. I had very close Internet chat friends from England come to USA to meet me last week. My friend has Parkinson, And wanted to take a trip before it got worse. She chose me to visit. What an honor and a privilege. and her husband stayed 2 1/2 wonderful surreal days. I have a regular group I am in charge of about 30 on a pal talk chat line,, And many of them say what you said doc about me, If I can spread any happiness to anyone sick or not, makes me feel so good. I hope I can still tell about my RA and life I live in our group. I thought my life was over till I came to our support group cause life is short and gets shorter as time goes on. Wow doc you sound so gracious and kind when you text. I hope to hear from you again. I am glad and the others are willing to put up with me. Pain free for us oh Lord Clora PS Doc I love the UK diff accents, every time I tell she has an accent,, she tells me no clora you have the accent. haaaaaaaaaaaaa. Guest guest
Hello all, I was wondering if anyone has heard of or tried remicade, you take it by getting infusions once every two months, the problem is its very expensive and the insurance company is fighting it. Im now taking humira injections every two weeks, 20mg mtx once a week and 15mg prednisone every day. The pain from RA has subsided quite a bit, but the fatigue is amazing, My rheummy said that if i could do the remicade i would pretty much be back to normal in a short period of time. I just want to get back to work, thanks for being here and good luck to all
