Guest guest
You'll find that information in the CDR website as a service to employers. You have to have the registration number to find out if it's valid or not. w/o that and with just name you can't find anyone. At least I have not been able to, and I have always checked credentials prior to employment interview. Guest guest
I know about this one. But I think there should be a way for the pubpiic to find that out. Not everybody feeling comfortable to ask for credentials. RD# could be available for employers as they request this info in the hiring process. Client would not have access to this # unless they ask, and I know I would not feel comfortable to ask my MD (to RD, if i was looking for one) for his/her Lic#.It should be available more easily. MDs' credentials are easily found with name and city/state only. Guest guest
It's my opinion also, Merav. Having to ask for the reg number instead of being able to access from a directory is not convenient to the public, or to anyone else for that matter. Digna Verifying credentials? Guest guest
Well, Digna, as occasionally before - we can always agree to disagree. the public would never have access to a registration number, but when they make appointment, they know the name of practitioner and his/her location. If this service is available to verify MDs, why not us? Shouldn't we allow the pubic to verify our credentials and specilties, and by that we could separate ourselves from those who are not, but calling themselves " nutritionists " ? I don't think this info should be availble to employers only. Guest guest
True, at least from what I know of the State of New York, But this is different. A. Not all states have licensure B. In a state like NY, there is the CD-N but is not equivalent to the RD. I am not sure if it equivalent to the LD that is available in those states that have licensure. Is it?For me it is , again, if comparing to MDs:RD = Board certification, which is nationally accepted, and then in addition, the MD needs to be licensed in the state of practice, but first of all, you want the MD to be Board certified.BTW - did you know that in the State of NY you don't have to be board certified to practice medicine ? I will never choose an MD who is not board cert. But that's me Merav Levi, RD, MS, CDN, CSGA dietitian, not the food police. http://www.linkedin.com/in/meravlevi " Life is not measured by the number of breath you take, but by the moments that take your breath away.
