Guest guest
Clora, I've had RA for 12 years and was at my wit's end last January. MTX, 25 mg/week was no longer helping me at all. I too started Humira and it's nothing short of a miracle! I asked my dr yesterday if there was a limit to how long I can take it and he said no. He's happy I feel better. Feel better? I actually feel normal. I had forgotten how wonderful it is to be free of pain. I am also taking .7 cc (17.5 mg) of MTX weekly. He dropped the dose down but didn't stop it. I am scared to decrease it further because I love feeling well but he seemed to think the 2 together is the best treatment. Are you on both? If not, what happened when you stopped MTX? I need to get a second very bad bunion operated on. It has even formed a " bunionette " on the other side of my foot. The dr said " in sympathy with the bunion. " In any case, I hate it and want it fixed. Both drs say I must stop all RA drugs 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after, to promote healing. Anyone any experience with this? Thanks so much and stay well, Clora, Joy
Guest guest
Joy, You and Clora really have had great results! I am so glad that Humira is working. I had cervical spine surgery in May and had to stop my MTX for the same period. If you have been taking prednisone they will need to give you a shot also. I did fine. I had to stop it again 8/15 as a precaution before my breast biopsy and the day before I was to start it back, couldn't because of my heart cath. Then I accidently scratched a little mole off and I had to take a round of Keflex. I need to see the doc again tomorrow, because it is still a little red and itchy. I don't know if it is because I stopped it twice in such a short period of time but my joints are bad this week. I am hoping that I do not have to take more antibiotics and can take my MTX and add Enbrel to the mix tomorrow. It's in the fridge and my joints must know, because they are screaming for it. I hope your surgery goes well for you. I know bunions are painful also. I thought that I had them but it turned out to be nodules. Guest guest
Joy and group; I am allergic to MXT. It broke me out but I kept taking it to see if it worked for me but it didnt. I take 2 sulfazalines tabs a day and 2 plagunils tab a day. I been taking them for a year. I have only got worse, nothing seem to help. When I joinded this support group, I was in dis-belief at all the medicine available to us. I couldnt understand why my rheumy didnt tell me. Well I figured it out. Some guy wrote here. " WHAT THE HELL I GOT TO DO TO GET SOME HELP, COME IN THE DOCTORS OFFICE IN A WHEEL CHAIR. " ( forgive my bad language ) I realized my rheumy had no idea how bad my pain was really haaaaaaaaaaaaa. You should of seen the next visit. I may have over did it a little haaaaaaaa. I limped in her office. Instead of my number 4 pain level I said number 10. My rheumy said what happen Clora. I said I hurt. She prepared me for humirra. Yes, I call it a miracle. I knew it would work. If it worked for everyone else something will work for me lol. I am glad your not in pain too. I don't know what to do now. I have been in pain for over a year. I guess I got to get use to being ok haaaaaaaaaa. Let me know how they fix your bunion. I had one once. Many years ago. Feel better. gentle kind hugs Clora
