I know my uncle richard has RA in his kneck. It has always been stiff,

he can't move it. I don't know what other symptoms he has had with it.

He had " Gold Shots " for years and for him it has kept it under control.

I have also had the same neck issues, popping and crepitation, a tingling

running down my shoulder and up to my ear. I believe RA affects the upper neck

vertebrae just like elsewhere in the body.

Do you sleep with a contour pillow? I find that that helps support the

cervical area.

Those pillows are very helpful! I also have a memory foam pillow that helps me

alot as well.

I also use a memory foam contour pillow which really helps my neck

and shoulders. Bought it at Target store. Have always used the

special pillow since my cervical fusion in 1992.

I guess what I was asking originally, is what are the potential side effects of

neck arthritis?  Obviously there will be compression to the spinal cord, but is

this something that can be prevented? Or is it like many active RA joints and

problems are just inevitable?

hi shandi, i have ra in my neck & its severe where its fused.i also have some

popping going on but not much. they asked me about neck surgery, i said out of

the question!!!! i just try to deal with the pain but sometimes it hurts sooo

bad i just want to give up. i cant though because i have a family to think

about.... i take so many meds & one is called neurotin & thats for the nerves...
