Guest guest
My rheumy sent me for an echocardiogram to check out a heart murmur. I had it on Wednesday. It turns out that the murmur is caused by an aortic valve regurgitation. The aortic valve doesn't close tightly, so some of the blood pumped out of the heart leaks back into it. Mine is supposedly very mild, thank goodness. I've been reading about it, and it seems that if acute, it can lead to an enlarged heart and congestive heart failure. I'm sure that my rheumy will monitor it to make sure that it remains mild. Sue
Guest guest
I have been reading about aortic valve regurgitation, and it seems that rheumatoid arthritis can cause it. Only one other doctor besides my present rheumy has ever detected my heart murmur. That was after my diagnosis of RA.
