Guest guest
Hi, How long did it take before you realized plaquenil was working? My doc said it could take a few months. It has been 1 1/2 months and I'm not sure it is working... had a bad flare up but I think I would have had it on anything because of extreme stress that I was under. -MArgaret

Guest guest
Margaret I was on Plaquenil for 2 mths and wasn't getting better. Dr put me on Methotrexate along with Plaquenil. Still in pain. Hoping to start injections in Oct. They will have to find the right combination for you too. Good luck. Guest guest
is right -- according to my rheumatologist, plaquenil will still show up in your bloodstream 4 months after you stop taking it. So your body is still benefiting from the medication already in your system. It might be possible to cut back the amount you are taking (maybe go from 400 to 300 mg/day for example) and see if that helps your digestive problem, while still protecting you from disease. Personally, I would gladly deal with a little gas versus the pain of RA. I don't think it's worth going medication free. This diseases rarely disappear on their own. Guest guest
I just came off Plaquinil because I could literally not eat anything except starches with it. It made me so nauseated. But yes I noticed a lot more gas! I did not notice any help for the RA from it either. Maybe it did but I sure could not tell it. Now the Azulfudine I know helps me. [ ] Plaquenil Morning All, I've been taking Plaquenil since first being diagnosed with RA 10 years ago. It has controlled my RA well. My biggest complaint with Plaquenil has been flatulence! Have other people noticed this? It's really been a problem.
Guest guest
Plaquenil made a huge difference to me. It works good and I never reacted to it negatively at all. Took about 3-4 weeks for some relief and about 4 months to find a dosage that was great for me. (Still take pain meds, but not like I used to.) > > I took it for 4 days and broke out in hives with intense crazy itching. But otherwise was starting to feel really good and wasnt as tired, i hope it works for you > > jennifer > > [ ] Plaquenil > > > Hi all, I went to my RA last week (still no diagnosis)and she witnessed some of the swelling I have been complaining about and pain and put me on a trial of low dose Prednisone for 6 days. Besides not getting any sleep for 6 days the pain did get alot better, however, now off the prednisone, my hands are starting to hurt again but everything else seems o.k. She called me today and she wants to put me on Plaquenil. I am a little nervous about it. I guess if I had a diagnosis I would know what we were fighting but when nothing comes up in the bloodwork but being so symptomatic with pain, hair loss, swelling, tenosynovitis you obviously have some inflammation problem. > > How did you find Plaquenil? > > > > > >
