Hi ,

I was diagnosed ten years ago and Plaquenil was the first med I was

put on. I have been on and off other meds but they were always added

to the plaquenil. They have never suggested that I stop the

Plaquenil. I would think even if they wanted you to stop the

Plaquenil they would let your body get used to the MTX first. Unless

you are having some problems related to the Plaquenil. Glad you

called your Rheumy and asked. While on the MTX they also had me take

folic acid and leucovorin.

Good luck, hope you find some relief

I went on Plaquinil about 6 months ago and have done very well on it. Then my

Rheumy added MTX to it and now wants me to add Remicada, so I assume I will

discontinue the Plaquinil....I certainly don't want to take 3 things......

My old doc started me out on Plaquenil, then added the MTX after several

months. My new doc kept me on that, but we stops the plaquenil since he did not

feel it was making a difference, so now I am on 5 pills of MTX a week and

started Humira back in Dec. I saw him on Tuesday and he said I am doing real

well, basically it is working. Sure wish the pain would go away though, but we

all know how that goes. But the MTX and Humira are keeping it from progressing

so that is all we can hope for, as he told me it will never get better but

we need to keep it controlled from getting worse and this combo is doing just

that. As a matter of fact we just joined a health club and I started doing

arobics and am starting to feel much better. To be honest I think the exercise

is helping more than just the meds. He told me that is one of the big things

is to keep moving, which is hard cause I am tired all the time.

we haven't been too successful.... My Doc said we definitely must

take it slow and steady, due to the pain increasing after each

subtraction.

Hope everyone is having a relatively good day!

I was started on MTX and prednisone, then Plaquenil was added, then

Enbrel was added. So, yes I'm taking all 4. Currently, I'm being

weaned off prednisone. When that is accomplished, my rheumay wants to

wean me off plaquenil.

Hi ,

Plaquenil was the first med I was put on for RA along with glucosamine, and

Celebrex for OA. Two years ago my doctor added MTX 4 pills a week (10mg). I'm

still on the same dosage. I'm sorry you are in so much pain. Are you on any

pain meds?
