Guest guest
> Could someone explain to me why we have to stop our injections to > get a tooth pulled or to take antibiotics??? > > Hi Clora, I'm not a doctor but I suspect that the Biologics have a pretty significant impact on your immune system and thus may make you more suspectible to infection. The concern when you're having dental work is the possibility also of a cardiac infection called Peracarditis which is an infection or inflammation around the heart that sometimes can come from through the gums from dental work. Stopping the injection may allow your own defenses to kick in to help prevent that possibility. Always best to follow the docs directions when it comes to these sort of things. Praying you start feeling the possitive benefits of your shot. I'm fortunately still living on Prednisone for now so while stiff and some aches and pains it's tolerable. I see my Rheummy Monday for the results of all the tests they did. Have a great weekend. Bob
Guest guest
Bob and group; Thank you so much Bob for that great explanition. Yes I agree always best to follow doctors orders. Sorry about the Cardiac infection. THe nurse just left here. She put a pump on my daughters c-section. She got a staff infection. I hope this works for her. They think it was because growing up she took a lot of antibiotics and became immuned to their antibiotics. I feel kind of guilty for giving her the antibiotics. gentle hugs Clora > > Hi Clora, > I'm not a doctor but I suspect that the Biologics have a pretty > significant impact on your immune system and thus may make you more > suspectible to infection. Guest guest
Good luck with your pain!! We have to stop our shots because these medicines suppress the immune system and can cause infections to get much worse. I'm sure someone can explain this better than I, but this is the easiest way I can think of to say it... Hope this helps Autumn
Guest guest
Hi Clora - I pray your Humira injection is kicking in and giving you relief now. You hit the nail on the head with how your neck and head are feeling. I told my Rheumy once that my head felt too heavy for my neck and he made some kind of wise-crack joke that I totally missed and ended up saying " Huh? " . He chuckled and said nothing else. When I was going to PT, I had some stretching exercises to do for my neck. When my head gets to feeling too heavy, I know I've slacked off on my stretches too much. I can email anyone a copy of the page if you want, but basically its sitting up straight, lean your head to one side as if you are going to touch your ear to your shoulder. Don't force it to go, but lean as far as you comfortably can. Hold for 10-20 seconds (as long as you can tolerate), then return to the upright position. Do the same thing for the other side, front and back. It really helps me. You might hear some popping and cracking like I do, but for me the noises mean relief of pressure on my neck. Anyway, best of luck to you.............Doreen > > Doreen and group; > > Thanks so much Doreen, your encouragment is much appreciated. I > got my shot a couple hours ago.
