Guest guest
Liz and group; Hi hun. I get numbness in my hands and sometimes in my leg. I have RA. I take plaqunil sulfazaline and humira injections for RA. I got the numbness before I ever took anything for the pain. Before I was even diagnosed with RA. I think I took Doxcline before. Thats an antibiotic right? Never took it for RA though. I have brain fog also. I think its from the fibro. I call it fibro fog. I am reading your post as I text this to answer what you have on your post. I do all my post that way. You mention face numbness too. I get numbness in my face very rarely though. I have no idea what the numbness is caused from. I had this numbness before I took any meds for RA and before I got the diagnose for RA. Plagunil and sulfazaline has done nothing to help my RA pain. But as soon as I took the humira injections I got relief in 24 hours. Wow there must be a lot of readers in our group. I was even surprised at the readers of my post. Sometimes I thought my post wasnt even read. I hope you find out what your looking for. I know how our bodies can confuse us. Nice to meet you. I hope you post some more about lyme disease. I am curious about it. I have read much on lyme disease but I understand our group better than I do the information on the net. gentle hugs Clora > > Hi all! I don't post very much to this list but I do read when I get the chance. Anyway, I was treated for Lyme disease several years ago with IV antibiotics. My pain symptoms were joint pain, numbness, and a weird brain fog which is common with late stage LYME. ANyway, I was off all RA drugs while I was pregnant and for six months after and was lucky to have had no pain except pain that normally come with pregnancy. Last month the pain came back with a vengeance, and I also developed numbness in my arms and face, and occasional shooting pains in my feet and toes (definite nerve pain, not joint or muscle). One time it was on just half of my body, I thought I was having a stroke. I assumed the numbness in my arms was from carrying the baby, but that wouldn't necessarliy affect my face. ANyway, the doc reran all my bloodwork since it had been months since I was on any medication . Of course my LYME tests were positive since they always will be but he decided to treat me with doxycycline for a month since numbness was a symptom before. Ididn'treally like the dea but he said that some people take doxy for RA so it would probably help the pain either way, and I have to admit that it is. Makes me wonder as always whether I acually have RA, chronic LYMe, or some mix? > > ANyway, the question is: does anyone have numbness with RA (I am seronegative)? DOes anyone take DOXYCYCLINE for RA? What are your experiences? I was treated with Plaquenil before and did well with it. > > > Thanks! > > Liz > >
Guest guest
Hi Liz, I do not have numbness with my RA. I know of a woman who does have facial numbness and her rheumatologist said it was her Sjogren's syndrome which people sometimes have by itself or with another autoimmune disease (like RA). Hope this is helpful. [ ] numbness, doxycycline Hi all! I don't post very much to this list but I do read when I get the chance. Guest guest
Liz, The only numbness that I have had was in my hands and arms. This was caused from my cerivcal spine. I had that surgery in May and so far no numbness. Oops, I forgot, 3 yrs ago my lower spine caused numbness in my right foot. All of the feeling has returned except for one small area. I have a herniated disk there also, but I have heard too many horror stories about surgery in the lumbar area. I truly believe that my RA drugs have helped the osteo-arthritis there also. Guest guest
Hi beth, Congratulations on the baby, boy or girl? I have heard, while pregnant many go into a remission. Then after the baby, all the pain comes back, and more. With the numbness, I think you need to see a neurologist right away. I have numbness in my leg, which he diagnosed me with neuropathy pain. I take Neurontin, and it does help me. If I miss a dose or two, my leg will start swelling, and the numbness comes back. I have a lot of symptoms of MS, but not enough. So, if I get any worse, then I will see the neuro again. Please, see a neuro, there are many health problems that cause your side effects. Take care, Tawny --- In , beth Costa <elizcosta@...> wrote: > > Hi all! I don't post very much to this list but I do read when I get the chance.
