Guest guest
Hi I've suffered from agoraphobia from age 4, but in the last few years have improved 90%! I had some sessions of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) with a therapist specialising in phobias/anxiety. Once I learnt the techniques, I could handle it by myself, with the addition of an occasional clonazepam (minor tranquilliser) in particularly 'challenging' situations Before CBT I could not travel by myself without suffering huge panic attacks. Now I can travel to Australia alone (i.e. flying alone and staying alone in a different country). I just wish I'd got help when I was 20, rather than 40. There are great books on CBT you could read, if therapy is unaffordable, but I think I needed the support of a 'buddy' helping me. All the best to you, in NZ (Whose motto is now 'Feel the fear and do it anyway')
Guest guest
Thank you all so much for your replies and concern. I got my prescription filled on Thursday and can feel a difference already....which goes to show....when you have to take medication, you have to take it, whether you want to or not. I actually went out in the yard yesterday for a while and I've slept the last two nights without constant bad dreams. Thank you and Bless you. > > Hi > > I've suffered from agoraphobia from age 4, but in the last few years have > improved 90%! Guest guest
, So glad your feeling better. We do need our meds, even if we hate taking them. You take care, and I'm here if you need to chat. Hugs, Tawny > >
