Food sensitivities can cause abdominal pain, including abdominal migraines,

which occur in children primarily.   I use LEAP/MRT testing to identify those

food triggers.  Has celiac been ruled out?   Non-celiac gluten sensitivity is

another possibility.  Lactose intolerance too.  I always try to rule out the

obvious, so getting a history would be the place to start.  If she drinks milk,

you could have her avoid dairy for 10 days or so to see if this helps at all.

Does she have normal bowel movements or diarrhea/constipation?  Does she have a

history of antibiotic use?  If so, probiotics can sometimes be helpful.

Hope this helps,

Hi Everyone...

I am meeting with a 7 year old, obese female client and her parents tomorrow who

" think she has a food sensitivity " due to getting " abdominal pain " .  The only

other diagnoses that can be obtained is that she has lactose intolerence and is

obese.  I need suggestions on how to proceed during our first visit since I

rarely deal with this area.  I do not think that she will be bringing a food

diary, so I really am starting from square one.  Thanks so much!
