Don't know if anyone is thinking about getting the shingles vaccine. I am 61 and

on orencia and she told me not to get the shingles vaccine because it's a live

virus. A dead vaccine like the flu shot is ok. So anyone thinking about it

should probably ask your doctor first.

When I asked about it, my rheumy told me that they are not recommending

it for those of us on immunosuppressants. I've had shingles once,

shortly after my RA symptoms first started. I understand that you can

have it more than once, though. I just hope I don't get it again,

although my doctor treated it very aggressively and I had little

trouble with it.

i understood too that anyone on DmRds or biologics at risk for

infections should not get live vaccines. Be careful.
