As some of you may know, I had an MRI on Thursday evening. I was told I would

hear from my doc in 24-48 hours.

While I was sitting there talking to Rod tonight, I realized that it is time to

get my new scripts. While planning out the logistics of doing that, seeing

as how I'm down with Rod working Ike, I decided on a whim, to call my *other*,

as in the one I never use and the one the doctor isn't supposed to use either,

phone. I hadn't heard from anyone in the doc's office yet, and I thought that

they might have left me a message there... Intuition paid off!

Someone had called from the doc's office. It wasn't a member of the staff,

though. It was... The doctor!

He wants me to call him tomorrow at 8:30 AM. to discuss my MRI. The last time I

had an MRI, a member of the staff called me back and told me there was nothing

wrong! Now, I am freaking out because it wasn't a member of staff, but the doc

himself and I can't afford to have something wrong with my knee... Like

I know there is. :(

So, has anyone had their doctors call them about test results? If so, were they

normal? I mean, you'd think if they were, that a member of staff would call,

right?

Now, I'm all scared... Something I don't need!

dd,

I have never had to go in when there was nothing wrong. But one

thing I have learned is if my rheummy's ofc doesn't call me with my

lab results within 2 days, I call them. The lab my insurance makes

them use has failed 3 times to give them the results and twice I

needed to adjust my meds when this happened.

Dodge,

I feel the anxiety in your words and can completely identify with

your feelings (fears). In situations like this I tend to run a

little movie projector in my mind playing out the whole scenario. It

usually ends up with some really bad thing happening to me. Almost

always though reality is never as bad as what's running on that

little projector. Hang in there and get the facts.

I'm hoping and praying it's just a case that the doctor's nurse took

off early for the weekend leaving him with the mundane chores of

calling patients to let them know their results are in. I guess

worrying about it isn't going to change anything. Someone told me

once that worrying is like a rocking chair. It gives you something

to do while you're sitting there but doesn't get you any place.

Hang in there and let us know what he says.

Hey Dodge.  Keep your head up.  My docs call me themselves most of the time and

it hasn't always meant anything really.  I know what you feel though.  I am

jealous you are working Ike relief!  Miss the medic days so much :(  Hope you

find some peace.

{{{{{HUGS}}}}} Hang in there, Dodge. The doctor calling doesn't

necessarily mean something " bad " . He could just want to clarify

something with you. And the time of day he requested you call could

just be a time before he starts getting swamped with patients. Keep us

posted. My prayers are with you.......Doreen :)

Dodge,

I hope everything is ok! Please let us know! I'm late as usual in reading the

posts...I am treated at the University of Michigan and actually my doctor calls

me herself personally to give me all of my test results (even when normal).

She's even phoned me from her home number to check on me during certain flares

or any problems I may be having.  Sometimes my GP calls me himself to just let

me know results of tests he ran but some of the time its his staff.

you are right Jane! It is really difficult to go through some of this stuff

alone!
