Guest guest
Sorry Doreen, I have no experience with Arava, but I have had experience with clinical studies. I was in a lung study held at town Hospital in Washington, DC for 3 years. They did a cat scan annually on my lungs because I ended up in the cat scan group instead of in the xray group. It doesn't cost you anything and the medication is free. They also monitor the medication much better, in my opinion, better than a doctor would. I would highly recommend you do your research and if you like what you find out about the study and Arava I would go for it. Colleen
Guest guest
I have had experience w/ both. When I was first diagnosed w/ RA (7 years ago) I was involved in a clinical trial for remicaide. It was great...I was able to get a great medication for free (I didn't get the placebo). I was on mtx during the duratiuon of the year long study. After the study, I was able to stay on remicaide because I was part of the study. At the time, my insurance would only cover remicaide if I had failed 2 oral medications and gold shots. After a few years, my rheumy took me off of mtx and put me on arava. Again, the medication worked great great for me. I never had any side effects. If you don't have insurance, I would highly recommend it because you can get free doctors visits, and you don't have any out-of- pocket expenses for medications. If you have any concerns, talk to your rheumy and talk to the clinical trial coordinator to get all of the information on the study. Get all your questions asked.
