Guest guest
Good morning , Thank you for your thought provoking kind reply to me re your struggles .The early history of pneumonias and repeated infections predating your arthritis was interesting.Am printing it off for my friend. Thanks again. So sorry to hear about your recent experiences with your mum and the cardiologist and his lack of understanding.I can imagine you felt very angry on her behalf. As a recently retired doc who has always been fascinated by multisystem diseases and the patterns and fluctuations over time, the importance of the patient's narrative in my experience so often is paramount, with important clues, if only they are listened to and not 'rejected'just because they are not understood. Good doctors should be humble doctors! Tests, and of course there are so many more of them now, need to be directed to try and answer questions already thought of , to clarify the present situation and reassess, monitor progress, treatment safety etc. Unfortunately, out of necessity I suppose there is more specialisation, but it seems to leave certain docs pigeon-holing and not thinking of the whole patient. (probably a coping mechanism for the doctor, but I think it would also stifle their interest in their patient rather than the disease, very bad and unsatisfying for both in the long term. As this is long will give a quick update re electrophoressis separately, best wishes Chris
