Schulman Associates IRB Acquires Independent IRB

Combined company provides more comprehensive suite of review services for human

subject participation in research studies

Schulman Associates IRB (Schulman) and Independent IRB (IIRB) are pleased to

announce that the organizations have merged to form one of the leading services

companies in North America, dedicated to the protection of human research

subjects. The combined company will offer a more comprehensive suite of research

review services that will provide sponsors, CROs and research sites with

unsurpassed levels of quality and customer service.

Schulman acquired the assets of IIRB on November 1, 2011. Clients of both IRBs

can expect to continue to receive the same superior service they’ve come to

expect from each organization.

At this time, no changes have been made to:

· Board meeting schedules

· Submission processes

· Review timelines

· Forms

· Service agreements

· Established IC templates

· Customer service staff

Additionally, each IRB’s individual AAHRPP accreditation and FDA registration

will be unaffected.

Initially, the two Boards and supporting processes will continue to operate

independently. Over time, Schulman and IIRB will carefully evaluate the

processes and services of each IRB in order to incorporate the best practices

into the organizations.

For now, clients should continue to submit studies to the IRB they normally work

with. Schulman and IIRB will continue to update clients as we continue to seek

greater efficiencies and effectiveness to support client needs.
