Doctor dictates, I am watching the patient's eyes and nose instead of " I's " and

" O's "

I worked once where a physician was quite thorough in his history and would

include where the patient's parents attended school and how far they went. (The

patient's were in their 80's, so these parents were long dead and attended

school at the turn of the century--this was 25 year ago).

One of the funniest things I think I ever saw was not in the medical record, but

a note taped to the front of the chart. It read, " If Mrs. does not eat,

call her nephew, Bill , and I will eat for her. I am staying at such and

such Motel. " Again saw this over 20 years ago.

Medical Histories

I am presenting a talk on nutrition to a group of medical transciptionists,

tomorrow. Of course I have waited to the last minute, but I thought I would ask.

What is the funniest thing you have ever read in a medical record? It doesn't

have to be nutrition related. I personally, find many histories to be the

funniest thing I run into all day. How about you?
