Guest guest
Dear All, I am currently a student on the programme of Masters in Public Health at the University of Sheffield, Sheffield;U.K. As part of my thesis work I would like to work in Mumbai and I am interested in bringing to light the problems faced by female sex workers in Kamathipura. I would also like to investigate whether the social status of women in India reflects in its HIV statistics: from the choices that are available to the sex workers, to the likelihood of them being able to enforce such choices, such as the use of condoms. Their knowledge and awareness of AIDS/HIV etc. For my project I would ideally like to talk to about 20 sex workers, with basic verbal questionnaires and some in depth interviews keeping all the persinal information confidential of course and I will be getting ethical approval for this project. I hope to be conducting this research Jan-Feb 2008. Any social worker, member of staff, student, doctor, or member of an NGO, or a govt organisation with any contacts in the field or anyone who is involved in this kind of work in and around Mumbai or who knows anyone who may be interested in assisting me please do let me know. Any help would be very greatly appreciated. Thanking you all so much! Tarang sharma e-mail: <tarangs@...>
