Guest guest
Hi Clora - {{{{{HUGS}}}}} I am so sorry you were hurt by your daughter's comment. EVERYONE is different with RA - pain levels, length of time they've had it, how fast the disease is progressing, tolerance to medications, and on and on and on. Have you had your daughter read The Spoon Theory? Maybe that would help her to understand a little better. Her MIL might not need as many spoons to get through her day or to do various chores around the home. I know how you feel. When I tell people I have RA, they only hear the " arthritis " part and either poopoo it off or say, " oh yeah, I have arthritis in my little finger " - not realizing that RA is much more than just " arthritis " . Its hard to explain to people. If your daughter is willing, ask her to read up on RA as much as she can. There are a lot of good sites out there with a lot of info on the disease. I Googled " RA Prognosis " (for example) and you would be surprised at the number of variables to take into consideration even for a prognosis! Bottom line - no two people are alike, so its not fair to try and compare yourself to her MIL. Best of luck to you, dear Clora - I really don't think RA has anything to do with tolerance to pain as even the most stoic of people eventually get worn down by the pain............Doreen > > Group; > > Hello everyone, my daughter said something that hurt me. Guest guest
Doreen and group; Haaaaaaa, yes people poo poo it off. My husband is really good to me and he said I got arthritis in my leg haaaaaaaa. I think he got sore from walking all the way home from walmart when the van broke down. Cause he never complained about it before. ANd yes there are diff types of arthiritis. I got the osteo also, its in my spine. Ouch lower spine. ] I dont even know wy they call it arthiritis ita an auto-immune disease. Anyway thanks for answering my post I really do appreciate it. I have spent the last 15 minutes trying to down load the sppoon theory on my pc. My pc wont down load it. I have Avant Browser and I don't like it. But my son gave me the pc and who am I to complain lol. I got an Idea what it means. I have to figure out each day what i can and can't do as the day goes on. My daughters mother-n-law has RA too. I feel for her cause it hurts her so much also. And she has always been so sweet to me. I don't even think my daughter realized what she said. But I am going to show her your letter and the other posts I received on this subject. I have had pain all my life and could hardly hold down jobs. I believe I had fibro all my life. I was diagnosed with fibro about 4 years ago. I am 54 now. People seem to think there was nothing wrong with me all those years cause the doctors couldnt find anything wrong with me. When I was diagnosed with fibro it was the exact same pain I have been living with all those years. I had people even ask me to give up my chair for someone who had a bad back. Just because someone looks ok, don't mean they are, you and I know that, but most of the world don't know that. I am rambling a bit so let me close and say I love all of you, , Chriss, , Paris, debs, deebs, (when is barbara coming back?,) Dodge, All of you I love, cant think of everyons name right off. Fibro fog lol. Gentle kind hugs everyone Clora > Hi Clora - {{{{{HUGS}}}}} I am so sorry you were hurt by your > daughter's comment. Guest guest
Clora: The reason why they call certain types of Arthritis autoimmune diseases is because an autoimmune disease occurs when the immune sysztem malfunctions. In arthritis, the immune system thinks that the body is a foreign invader, and wrongly tries to get rid of that invader, thus get rid of itself. This is, of course, a very simple explanation, but there it is... When that happens, then we have things like bone loss, joint deformity, etc, all because our immune systems are ramped up way to high and are out of control. That's why we take drugs to calm our immune systems down. -- Dodge Resolve to be tender with the young, compassionate with the aged, sympathetic with the striving, and tolerant of the weak and wrong, because sometime in your life you will have been all of these. Guest guest
Dodge and group; Thanks Dodge, I looked up in the dictionary arthritis is inflamaination in the joints and so on. I guess the plaquenile and sulfazaline is to calm down my immune systems, because its doing nothing for the pain. I start humira as soon as my TB test is taken and my insurance company approves the humira. I am on prednisone for the pain untill than, as I said before. I love prednisone. I like the way you explained it Dodge. I have some medical terminology. So can you explain why prednisone is so bad. It dont make me eat ( yet ). But it sure makes me feel good lol. kind gentle hugs Clora > Clora: > > The reason why they call certain types of Arthritis autoimmune diseases is because an autoimmune disease occurs when the immune sysztem malfunctions.
