Good news with Orencia, Plaquenil, and OT my hubbys back

Earlier this week I went for my 4th Orencia infus & checkup appt. I

don't hurt anywhere except my hands- and that is a HUGE improvement.

My Doc referred to my pain diminishment as approx 70% so far and I'm

happy. He thinks I will get up to 90% improvement eventually! I'm

really LIKIN' this drug treatment!

More good news...Awhile back I got food poisoning and suffered

horribly for right at 2 very very long weeks. That seems to have

triggered an unpleasant side effect of Plaquenil and, THANK GOD

Himself!, Doc wants me to stop taking it immediately! My digestive

tract still isn't working right but it has improved dramatically

today. Doc said in a week or so I should be feeling normal but that

it will take awhile for the Plaqu to get out of my system. Ah, one

more pill that I do NOT have to take! Yippee!

My knees are no better but they are no worse either...so...Doc says

quit taking the glucosamine condroitin since it isn't working. Two

more HUGE pills that I don't have to choke down!

Lastly, off the topic of RA, took my husband with chronic back pain

to his Pain Mgmt Dr. The new CT scan and xrays show no new damage.

Good news! Bad news...he has " clearly defined arthritis " in his lower

spine. Wonderful :-\. The usual drug suspects are of no help to him

anymore, either. Tues he took the last Oxycontin and 5 hours later

was still up crying from the pain, which diminishes when he starts

moving around at work. Weird...go figure! Anyway the final good news

from all this was his decision. On Friday I take him to Terre Haute

to receive an Epidural Steriod Injection. Three little injections

actually. We are both hoping this steroid will hang around to give

him a few months of pain relief. He is terrified of needles but is

looking forward to Friday with happiness.

All in all this has been one of our better weeks. We were due for a

change...finally! Things are lookin' up!

Dalanne,

Thanks for the update. I am glad that the mystery illness is solved.

It is good to know that you are having positive results from

Orencia.

I also hope that the shots for your hubby are long lasting. It's

about time both of you felt better.

Shirley
