Guest guest
I went for my first ever visit with a rheumatologist, and she (after spending five minutes with me taking a VERY BRIEF history, and testing range of motion of my joints) said I have fibromyalgia and not arthritis. Her reasoning is that I do not have the joint destruction commonly seen with arthritis. I have to say that I am 29 and the onset of my symptoms is fairly recent. Maybe I have fibromyalgia, maybe I don't. But I am having joint pain, not muscle pain. Its not like I WANT to have arthritis. LOL. I would love to hear that its not that serious, if that were true. Fibromyalgia sounds so much more treatable than say... RA, PA, or Lupus. No offense to people with fibromyalgia. I'm just saying that, I have seen what RA can do to a person... My mom has seronegative RA and has experienced severe destruction in her joints. So, I know what happens when a diagnosis is delayed.... I am having pain: wrists shoulders hips ankles toes fingers spine (neck & back) Sometimes my joints " freeze " in place and it is really hard to move them. Can fibromyalgia cause your joints to freeze?? She ordered labs, to be sure, but I am not convinced that I can trust this rheumy. I have never heard of fibromyalgia causing severe pain in joints. I am just curious to hear if this has happened to anyone else.
