Guest guest Posted May 18, 2012 Report Share Posted May 18, 2012 I am setting up an outpatient counseling program at my small hospital and I am wondering about billing individually vs groups. I am not CDE and we do not have a diabetes self-management program. With that, I know I can bill for individual counseling under medi-care using MNT codes, but is it possible to bill for group nutrition education classes? To bill for diabetes self-management ed I believe we have to be a certified program w/ an RN and RD and both of us need to be CDE - is this right? Is the reimbursement for the diabetes self-management much better than the regular MNT reimbursement for diabetes? Any information would be most helpful!!
