Guest guest
What a good question! Some of my veins are very prominent. This has developed in the last year and I've had RA since "83". Hi group, Are swollen veins a sign of RA? The veins of my hands and feet are swollen, though not at all painful. Even the crisscrossing smaller blue veins are noticeable. Is this normal? Is anyone else experiencing this? Wishing everyone a speedy recovery ZanashTo unsubscribe, email: rheumatic-unsubscribeegroups
Guest guest
mine are terrible. I am 36 and the veins began appearing when I was 15 years old. I have had RA since aug. 1998. I have always reacted terribly to mosquito bites. One interesting thing I have found is that the herb Gotu Kola significantly reduced these ugly large blue veins in my lower legs. I have tried everything but this works! The other thing that reduced these veins was chelation ETDA which is a 3 hour IV drip used to grap heavy metals and pathogenic deposits of calcium from the system. The only problem with chelation is that it is expensive ($100 per IV) and its not covered. Gotu kola 4 times a day is working on something and is very inexpensive if puchased at herbspicetea.com, but I buy in bulk. I try to buy more than $40 of herbs so I get a $10 discount. BE WELL! kathy Re: rheumatic swollen veins What a good question! Some of my veins are very prominent. This has developed in the last year and I've had RA since "83". Guest guest
Dear Zanash, I suggest that you do a web search on " vasculitis " , which is an inflammation of the blood vessels. One informative web page is http://web.hamline.edu/lupus/articles/vasculitis.html. According to that page, vasculitis can occur as a result of different illnesses. Some of the illnesses that can cause vasculitis are: Infections Autoimmune Diseases Lupus Rheumatoid Arthritis Polymyalgia Rheumatica Scleroderma Wegener's Granulomatosis Temporal Arteritis Cryoglobulinemia Swollen veins could be a symptom of " Giant Cell Arteritis " or " Temporal Arteritis " . I suggest that you do a web search on these text strings (text surrounded by quotation marks). These conditions can cause sudden blindness -- so they need to be diagnosed and be treated aggressively. The typical treatment uses Prednisone. Sincerely, Harald At 12:40 AM 07/27/2001 -0700, " shar " <shar@...> wrote: >Hi group, > >Are swollen veins a sign of RA? Guest guest
Hi Harald, Thanks for your detailed reply and also the site but after reading it carefully, I don't think I have vasculitis. However, I shall check up with my doc. I suppose the only way to get rid of the swelling, etc. is to remove the toxins from the body, as we are all trying to do Wishing you a speedy recovery Zanash

Yes, it definitely scares me too. a [ ] Swollen Veins Hi Group: Something strange happened to me yesterday. My hand were hurting more than usual - and I had a tingling sensation in my right hand all day. Both arms were feeling a bit numb and my knees and ankles were also in more pain than usual. Well - last night the vein in my rt hand and wrist was huge! I could not believe how puffy anf odd it looked. It was back to normal after a while....but it was a little scary. Has this happned to anyone?

Guest guest
I noticed this too, especially on my left hand. I just thought it was par for the course.I have severe pain in the hands and wrists but more so in the left hand.I do know that they could never find a vein in my left arm for an IV when needed and now it looks as if they could stand across the room and throw the needle and score a bulls eye. LOL. I will also ask my Rhu next month if it is indicative of the flares I am having in my hands/wrist. Heidi M On Wed, Jul 16, 2008 at 10:27 PM, <swp1027@...> wrote: > > This has happened to me too!
