Guest guest
Hi all! Ok so I have my ra diagnosis. But my wrists have hurt for years. Does this mean I have had ra longer that I think? Because I can remember having an elevated SED rate five years ago. I say a Rheumy at that time and he said to come back when I was really having joint pain (my wrists were on a quiet period). Also, what does a flare mean? My wrists hurt to some extent all the time and are swollen continuously. Is a flare when I can go days or hours and can't move them because they are excruciating? wendy
Guest guest
I wear a brace around my wrist. Its not a hard brace but one that just wraps around. I have found thatit helps me keep from bending my wrist in diferent positions.I sleep with it on as well. It won't cure the hurt completely but it has helped me. Guest guest
Heidi thanks for the wrap idea. I have used wraps and splints for years. My joints in my wrists are VERY loose. Especially the right one. So, I do not know if tightening the tendons with phys ther. is the right choice. My rh dr. said that if it is not hurting that I should definitly exercise it, but I have not had a non hurting day in a long time. Is the plaquenil supposed to relieve the pain? I know they said that it would take a long time to get into my body (up to 6 mos.) but should the pain be gone by then? I know it stops damage to the joints, but beyond that I don't get it. Anyone have any input? thanks wendy > > I wear a brace around my wrist. Its not a hard brace but one that just > wraps around. Guest guest
, I have never tried Plaquenil, but a combination of MTX, Humera, abd Vicodan seem to make the pain workable. As I siad I keep a brace on my left wrist because if I try to do anything without it it kills me just to move the thumb. Guest guest
Hi Heidi. Thanks for the info. This question is for you or anyone else that cares to contribute. Both of my wrists are swollen and painful. I really don't notice " hot spots " at the point of inflamation. And I am hypermobile in all my joints. What is the pain? Because all of these years I thought it was because I loosened up the ligaments in the wrists thereby spraining constantly. Or is it something in my bones or the fluid around the joints? I feel dumb for not knowing what causes the pain. Can someone help me out? Thanks wendy > , > I have never tried Plaquenil, but a combination of MTX, Humera, abd Vicodan > seem to make the pain workable. Guest guest
, THe pain is usually caused from inflammation of the joint tissue.THis can be caused by several things overuse is a biggy or a sprain to the area. I think and it is a guess at best that in my case the destruction of the tissue due to chroinc swelling and actual destruction of the joint from the RA.I know the Dr first thought it was Tendonitis and gave me a shot in the tendon, did nothing so the next time he gave it right at the joint, again nothing. So I wear the brace and cuss alot when I hit my wrist of bend it in the wrong direction. Heidi M On Fri, Jul 18, 2008 at 12:07 AM, <wendymp@...> wrote: > Hi Heidi. Thanks for the info.
