Guest guest
, I would take a look at the autism.com website Look to the right side of the screen under Education and Treatment and click on free online lectures there are a number of great nutrition related lectures like the ones listed below. - An Introduction to Biomedical Intervention for Autism Spectrum Disorders by Bock, MD | 10/8/2010 - Cooking to Heal by s, CNC, Sueson Vess | 10/8/2010 - Dietary and Nutrient Support for Digestive Disorders by Liz Lipski, PhD, CCN, CHN | 10/8/2010 Nutrition 1 by Mathews - Nutrition 2 by Getoff - Nutrition 3 by Barnhill - Nutrtion 4 by Dana Laake - Nutrition 5 by s - Special Diets and the Picky Eater by Dorfman, MS, LDN | 10/8/2010 http://www.autism.com/faq_diets.asp I would look into cutting back on grains and sugar since that is typically the basis of the autism diet treatment. There is some great information and work being done with gluten free/casein free diets and improvement of autism symptoms. Additionally, I spent a few years covering a inpatient pediatric psych unit where we had a number of autistic over weight children. One of my main strategies was to train the staff and family not to reward with food. Stickers, shiny things (keys) etc...worked just as well it was just a matter of getting staff and family on board to get creative.
