I worry about Dennis also. He lives in East Texas which is where

Hurricane Ike passed through. Hope his house didn't get damaged.

I'm sorry I haven't posted but have had some issues to deal with. I've been

reading posts to try to keep up, but sometimes when y'all are prolific, it

becomes a challenge. ;)

Ike did go right over my house but only broke some small branches off trees

and lost our power long enough that I missed the NHRA qualifying. I saw 5

minutes of the show and lost the power. Power came back on 2 minutes after

the program went off. That figures.

We've been trying to buy a better van for us. We had a 95 Astro with the

Merry Miler conversion and only 42,000 miles, but both of us had trouble

getting in and out of it. We went through 3 others before settling on the

one we have now. The others had some problem or another with having to carry

both our chair and scooter. Also there's a problem with us fitting the van

since I'm 6' and Betty is 4'10 " . This one has the adjustable pedals, I

installed the receiver hitch, and seats fold just right. I was having a lot

of 'Fibro-Fog' and couldn't remember from one van to the next. We ended up

buying and un-buying 3 vans!

We're also trying to sell the house and most of the land. I want to have a

home built for us so I don't have to fix everything as I'm doing now. Add to

that, we built it all by ourselves and it's not finished yet. lots of trim

parts are not put in yet and I'm not able to do the rest.

The Prednisone attempt went south also. After the shots in my back, I didn't

have to take any pred until it wore out of my body. For a while, I was able

to take 2 mg/day but suffering more each day. Today I'm back to 7 mg and

plan to stay there for a while before doing any more. I also am having a lot

of trouble with the torn bicep in my left arm. It keeps me from doing a lot

of things and is pretty painful all the time. I was told that it will never

get better, and i tend to believe it. I went to a Dermatologist for biopsies

and was told they are 'pre-cancerous', whatever that means. That's another

thing I have been really worried about. People with skin cancer typically

last about 5 years, so it is a concern.

So, that's my fun summer. How about yours? LOL

Dennis,

So nice to see you post.

I am very glad that Ike didn't take you or your loved ones with him.

I saw your pictures a while back. You have a lovely family.

Maybe your house will sell soon and you can get away from that

burden.

I pray everything goes well with the skin issue. Please be vigilant

and watch for anything new.

God bless you,

Shirley

I don't have any fear from hurricanes since I've been in a few in my time.

When Audrey came through I was a teenager and remember sitting there

watching the living room floor rise and fall. Back then we didn't know much

about the size or power like we do now. I guess that was the scariest part.

It will be nice if we can sell the house for around the asking price. I want

to put up a Quanset Hut building about 30' x 80' and put the house in one

end, and use the rest for a shop or something so I can stay out of the sun

and still get things done.

Dennis,

Good to hear from you. I'm glad IKE went on past your place. I have

missed your posts, but know sometimes we just can't be on here.

You have a plan, and I hope you are able to sell your house quickly.

I know it will be a lot easier on you, and your wife. To be able to

do more things you enjoy, instead of working on house projects.

The prednisone does help, that is for sure. I try not to take it,

unless I really need to. When I get my prednisone out, my family

knows I'm in a lot of pain. I can imagine how upset you are after

hearing from the dermatologist. I will keep you, and family in my

prayers. Its time you get some good news, so sending some good vibes

your way. Take care, Tawny

Hi Dennis - I'm glad to hear you and your family are ok after Ike. I

can't imagine the feeling of watching the floorboards rise and fall

like you did as a teenager. Although, you're a boy, so I imagine you

thought it was pretty cool and I'm a sissy girl who would've been

freaking out and wanting to get out of there. *lol*

My prayers will be with you and yours in the coming times that you

will get your asking price on the house and you are able to build the

Quonset Hut of your dreams. I was tickled to hear that was what you

wanted to build as my aunt and uncle lived in a Quonset Hut when I was

a kid and I always thought it was the coolest house ever!

Best wishes..........Doreen :)

Dennis,

We haven't heard from you in quite some time. How are the radiation

treatments going?

Please pop in and tell us how you're doing. We care about you and miss

you.

I'm still here and read all the posts. I haven't replied because I put

myself in 'self-imposed exile' after posting a bad one about a month ago

that wasn't me. I've got to be better than that and apologize for my

actions.

I started radiation last Wednesday. I drive an hour there and an hour home

after. After changing into a gown, I wait for maybe 10 minutes before being

called in, then about 10 minutes on the table. It takes longer to find a

parking place. I haven't noticed any side-effects except for extreme fatigue

and more depression so far, but I'm too grouchy, too. That's why I'm careful

in what I say or do, even at home. Of course, I had to stop MTX and Folic

Acid, and don't know the effects of that at this point.

I do know the effect it will make in my wallet. A trip to and from the

clinic is almost 70 miles and I'll have to do that 5 days a week for the

next 2 months. The clinic did give me a little help with that, so it will

ultimately be a big help.

Dennis,

I know what you mean about the doctor. I drive 70 miles one way, wait in the

room for over an hour, and she is in with me for 5 minutes.

I'm going to find another doctor.

Hi Dennis:  I was happy to see your post today, and glad you have started your

treatments.

I hope it goes well for you.

Dennis, please don't worry about your posting.  We all love you no matter what.

With what you are dealing with, health wise, and financially, I know it is

tough.  A long way and day for your daily treatments.

I have you in my thoughts and prayers.  Hoping you feel good for a long time.

Dennis,

Thanks for checking in with us.

I know the drill with radiation treatments. I was lucky to find a

place that had just opened up that was only about 15 miles from me.

They did let me keep taking MTX during the treatments.

I had no bad side effects at all except some redness of the skin

toward the last. I was taking prescription iron at the time for anemia

caused by a bleeding ulcer from Aleve. I've always thought that the

iron probably kept the bad side effects away.

I'm sorry that you have to drive so far. Even though we didn't have

that far to go, it did get old after a while, having to go every week

day for seven weeks. I just tried to make the best of it, since it was

mandatory.

Do keep us posted on how you're doing. We worry about you when you

don't.
