Guest guest
Hi Audley, Absolutely! This is one area that all RDs working with GI issues should be familiar! Diet tends to be low carb, low lactose, low sorbitol - some recommend a fodmaps type diet. Others, a SCD. Still othertimes, LEAP helps to identify foods that have become trigger foods for symptoms as a result of the SIBO causing loss of oral tolerance to some foods, even non-carbs. Also, supplementing with appropriate probiotics. Possibly repeat testing to see if it's been resolved. Maybe limits on fats if any fat malabsorption. Supplementation/replenishments of nutrients via supplementation that are often lost due to SIBO. A couple good articles here: _http://www.medicine.virginia.edu/clinical/departments/medicine/divisions/di gestive-health/nutrition-support-team/nutrition-articles/DiBaiseArticle.pdf_ (http://www.medicine.virginia.edu/clinical/departments/medicine/divisions/digest\ ive-health/nutrition-support-team/nutrition-articles/DiBaiseArticle.pdf ) _http://www.practicalgastro.com/pdf/July03/ZaidelArticle.pdf_ (http://www.practicalgastro.com/pdf/July03/ZaidelArticle.pdf) _http://www.practicalgastro.com/pdf/September07/06CaseReports.pdf_ (http://www.practicalgastro.com/pdf/September07/06CaseReports.pdf) I have a nice powerpoint on file I can sent privately per request. Just request it from me privately, and I'll send everybody copies at once in a day or two. It discusses probiotic and more on diet - but I don't know the source Jan Patenaude, RD, CLT Director of Medical Nutrition Signet Diagnostic Corp.
