Guest guest
My Rheumatologist is treating me for temporal arteritis (giant cell arteritis) and I have been on Prednisone since early July. I am also a Type 2 diabetic whos had to go on Insulin as well as know this GAWD AWFUL steroid jacks up my blood sugars - lol! I got lab results back a bit ago and my CK is 20 and the range is 30- 135. Since I was in the Medical Building anyways getting my results from Medical Records, I stopped in and asked the RN and she said it doesn't mean anything except muscle mass as I must not be too active? Wtf??? Ha! Ha! I came home and looked it up and a high CK has something to do with a possible heart attack and damage to the heart muscle yada yada - yet a low CK could mean RA. Well I already have polymyalgia rheumatica, peripheral neuropathy, cervical radiclulopathy and oh boy, a buncha other crap but am not going in to all that right now. Just mainly wanna know what tests you guys have been given to determine if you have RA...and/or...what a low CK result means to you.
Guest guest
Pat, I am so sorry the Prednisone caused you sugar levels to go crazy. That a big negative to the wonders it does for pain and inflammation. The only test that I had were blood work and x-rays for my diagnosis. If I have ever had my CK checked, I am not aware of it. From what I know Ploymyalgia Rheumatica is believed to be a Seronegative Rheumatic disease. We have many members in the group that have Seronegative RA. Hopefully it isn't something new or added but the same thing. Sorry, I wasn't much help.
