Guest guest
I am pretty new to all of this, was diagnosed in feb with RA. I am currently taking Neurotin,Celebrex,Plaquenil,Nexium, and another prescription for my IBS. I am waiting on an appt with a Gastrologist, my RA is thinking I may have Ulcerated gastritis and wants to make sure I am being diagnosed correctly. I had been doing well the last couple of weeks, yesterday, I woke up exhausted with my hands swollen and hurting. Thinking I hadnt gotten enough rest. Was in bed last night early. Woke up this morning exhausted and now not only are my hands, finger, and wrist are swollen and hurting, now so are my feet and knees. I can deal with the pain. The part I am having trouble with is I can barely hold my eyes open. My body feels like it weighs a ton. I have a 10 year anniversary to go to tonight, I can am literally falling asleep at my desk. Is the pain making me this tired. What can I do to get some energy, and why is this happening all of a sudden ? Any advise out there ??? Guest guest
Because I work 2 weeks on , & 1 week off & on night shift to boot, I frequently suffer from exhaustion/fatigue/lethargy. I usually take 2/3 days to recover. I find lots of rest, with a bit of light activity (usually something I enjoy, like a lazy bike ride with my 2 dogs) and frequent doses of sunlight get me back on track faster than anything else. cheers, Sharon > > > I am pretty new to all of this, was diagnosed in feb with RA. > I am currently taking Neurotin,Celebrex,Plaquenil,Nexium, and another > prescription for my IBS. Guest guest
Hi, For me, the exhaustion is the most difficult part of having RA. I find that even a short rest during the day helps. I also make it a point to get 8-10 hours of sleep a night. I know it may seem like a lot and hard to do but it really makes a big difference. Are you waking up at night because of the pain? This may also contribute to your exhaustion. It might help to talk about a sleeping aid with your MD. Lunesta helps me a great deal when I can't sleep well. Best of luck!! Guest guest
I've an article somewhere on my PC that explains how chronic pain contributes to the extreme fatigue..I will try to look for it! I know it is very frustrating and debilitating. It is one of the main challenges I feel I combat with the illness. I do take a sleeping aid now, and have had for several years. Its helped me to sleep much better..yet there are those days, when doing even very little and I'm completely exhausted almost just getting out of bed. Guest guest
How long have you been taking the Neurontin and how many milligrams? When my RA doctor started me on 600mg of Neurontin at night, I was exhibiting similar symptoms. They have since resolved without a dosage adjustment. I know I'm late in responding. I hope you were able to enjoy yourself at the anniversary party. --- In , " kmitch1966 " <kmitch1966@...> wrote: > I am pretty new to all of this, was diagnosed in feb with RA. > I am currently taking Neurotin,Celebrex,Plaquenil,Nexium, and another > prescription for my IBS. Guest guest
Thank you all so much for your responses. As far as a sleep aid, I am not currently on one. I do take a Dorvacet and 3 400ml of Neurotin for pain at night. I am on my second script of Dorvacet and finding it is not working as well. If I take one it does not help, if I take 1 1/2 I get to drowsy. I do work 8 hrs a day, 5 days a week. Sit down job, alot of typing. But I also take car of my 3 grandchildren in the evening. Both of my daughters are back at home, working and going to school. Thank God for my husband, when he is not at work he is so much help with them. What type of pain meds are any of you on ? Thank you again for all of your responses.
Guest guest
I did enjoy the party and then me and hubby actually went out for a couple of drinks after, it was nice. And then Sunday, slept in and then took a 5 hour nap, it was wonderful.LOL I take 1200 mil of Neurotin at night. She wants me to take this much because I have so much pain at night, and it does help along with pain pill. Do you think this is why I am tired all day ? Guest guest
Thank you so much for your encouraging responses. And I guess that is the key to all of this, enjoy, rest, enjoy, rest. As for drinking on my meds. I do on occassion. I have been a beer drinker for years. (not able to the do the hard stuff). Family,Friends, backyard BBQ's and beer..Now I do limit myself, but thats okay...Feeling okay today, my hands are really giving me fits and typing seems to be rough, but I am looking forward to a nice 4th tomorrow, and I dont have to be me till Tuesday....wishing all a wonderful and pain free holiday...
