Dear All members, colleagues and elected officials,

I am very disappointed and disapprove of this " joined-forces " act .

M.Obama was not interested in our profession. Her husband, our President,

ignored our petition for the reimbursement for treatment of obesity.

Suddenly, on election year, About two months before election day, when poles

with Romney are tight, suddenly they want our support, to join forces in

something that we should have been a part of from the very beginning.I would

have wanted to see that AND, the organization that represents me, would do so

with stamina, with dignity, our dignity. To put it simply: Have a back-bone!

I say - You don't have my vote and I have no interest in supporting an

administration that ignored our profession and specialty till they needed our

vote.

Sorry, Ms. President of the AND and Mrs. Obama - you don't have my vote!!!

To All New York State Dietetic Association Members:

The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics has partnered with Obama's Let's

Move! Cities and Town childhood obesity initiative since 2010. There is a

Registered Dietitian representing each state including New York. State

representatives help to sign up Mayors and Local Elected Officials for Let's

Move! Cities and Towns and facilitate implementation of nutrition programs in

those towns by inspiring local RD, DTR, and nutrition student volunteers to get

involved. Additionally, partnerships are formed with other organizations to aid

and ensure program success such as local departments of health, youth

organizations, etc. The The current New York State representative is looking

to pass along the torch to another NY State Dietetic Association member who is

interested in being the state leader for this outstanding program. This is a

volunteer position but has many benefits including networking, public speaking

opportunities, a resume enhancer, public health experience and an opportunity to

become directly involved in public policy issues, and of course helping fight

childhood obesity.

Ideal candidates would be someone who is " community-experienced " and interested

in working with young people, have PR/media skills given the visibility of the

programming, and be able to sit on NYSDA's Public Policy Panel and participate

in monthy conference calls. . Self directed, creative, sociable and a strong

ability to multi-task are desired. Baseline knowledge of produce and how to shop

and grow produce and the capability to be physically active when needed is

preferred.

The current NYSDA/Academy representative, Marie Keogh, RD, CDN, will provide

training for the position and information on already established contacts in

specific towns. If you have any questions about the position, please contact

Marie at: marieabell@...

If you are interested in becoming NYSDA's next Let's Move! representative please
