Guest guest
Dear All members, colleagues and elected officials, I am very disappointed and disapprove of this " joined-forces " act . M.Obama was not interested in our profession. Her husband, our President, ignored our petition for the reimbursement for treatment of obesity. Suddenly, on election year, About two months before election day, when poles with Romney are tight, suddenly they want our support, to join forces in something that we should have been a part of from the very beginning.I would have wanted to see that AND, the organization that represents me, would do so with stamina, with dignity, our dignity. To put it simply: Have a back-bone! I say - You don't have my vote and I have no interest in supporting an administration that ignored our profession and specialty till they needed our vote. Sorry, Ms. President of the AND and Mrs. Obama - you don't have my vote!!! Additionally, partnerships are formed with other organizations to aid and ensure program success such as local departments of health, youth organizations, etc. The The current New York State representative is looking to pass along the torch to another NY State Dietetic Association member who is interested in being the state leader for this outstanding program. This is a volunteer position but has many benefits including networking, public speaking opportunities, a resume enhancer, public health experience and an opportunity to become directly involved in public policy issues, and of course helping fight childhood obesity.
