Guest guest
Hi everyone I would strongly advise against smoking it for pain relief too, as it can cause lung cancer. My brother died of lung cancer for this very reason 3 years ago. But, while he was ill he found marijuana far more effective than morphine for his pain (he said that was because of it's relaxing effect). Before my hip replacement 18 months ago, I was on MS-Contin (slow-release morphine) for my pain and it worked well for me. If you take it for more than a couple of weeks you need to taper off it slowly though, to avoid nasty withdrawal side effects. There's NOTHING worse than chronic pain day after day, so you may need to be assertive with doctors to ensure you get the appropriate level of pain relief. in NZ
Guest guest
Here's a link from the Cancer Society NZ, (2006). http://www.cancernz.org.nz/Uploads/CSNZ_IS_SF_cannabis.pdf I'm neutral on cannabis use, but smoking anything seems a bad idea from the viewpoint of our lungs And watching a loved one die from lung cancer has made me a fairly fervent 'anti-smoking' person - it is a lousy way to die. in NZ
