Guest guest
I have had chronic sinus infections for a couple of years. It actually was the first weird health thing that happened to me and it ended with RA. Yesterday my ear started hurting, so I think I have a sinus and ear infection. I was able to get an appointment with my PC this afternoon. Today is the day I would normally take my Mtx. I think I read that I shouldn't take antibiotics and Mtx at the same time. So my plan is to wait until after I see my PC. I don't know about Arava. dd **************Looking for simple solutions to your real-life financial challenges? Guest guest
dd, I agree with your decision. It is good that you have an appointment today. If you can continue your meds, you won't be that far off. If not then you certainly made the correct decision. I hope your doctor visit goes well and the pain ends soon. Guest guest
You can take certain antibiotics while on Methotrexate. I've continued with the Methotrexate numerous times while on antibiotics. I just check with my primary care physician and double check with my rheumatologist concerning whatever has been prescribed. I'm also on Humira and have been told to always discontinue that until I've completed the course of antibiotics. Since healing from it on Drs orders I have rinsed my sinuses. While it is an unpleasant sensation it has kept infections from setting in. I also have an allergy to house dust (I'm screwed there) so it helps keep that stuff cleaned out. Both my ENT and RA doc told me to keep on rinsing. Per 2 cups body temp water I add 1 to 1 1/2 teaspoon of table salt and stir to dissolve the salt. i put the saltwater in a neti pot and rinse each side with abt 1 cup of the water. Before I got the neti pot I used to use a NEW enema bag with the NEW small nozzle. To a quart of water I added 3 TBSP table salt. Bend over a bathtub because hanging that bag up and opening the hose clip...wow! That was some serious flushing! Good luck at your Dr.! Be patient, too. Seems it takes us longer to heal. Guest guest
I, too get several sinus infections each year. Also had corrective sinus surgery in 1998. My ENT told me to keep flushing my sinuses out each day. I use an Ayr flush kit which is very easy for me. Never have tried that Neti pot though.
