Dental Work and Prednisone

After I get my bloodwork done (hopefully Monday) my Rheummy wants me to

start on 20 mg of Prednisone daily. I realized that I have a dentist

appointment on Tuesday initially for a cleaning but I know he wants to

start working on a new crown. Is there a risk associated with taking a

steroid and having dental work? I know that my wife who has a mitral

valve prolapse has to take an antibiotic every time she goes to the

dentist due to the risk of developing pericarditis. Just wondering the

the protocol is with taking steroids and having dental work done.

Advise would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Bob
