Welcome Kathy,

Sorry to hear you have RA and fibro. Its just devastating when first dx

with the disease. I also take mtx(6 pills,) along with humira. Has

your doctor talked with you about biologic meds? Some docs like to put

a patient on mtx, along with a biologic.

Also, I would talk to the doctor about your pain level. I am on Lortab

for my pain, and that helps a bit. It doesn't take all my pain, but it

gets me by.

I have tried a lot of meds, and I still deal with pain and stiffness.

But, I can still get around on my own. We are all on different levels

here, I have severe RA, and its stubborn.

Its nice to chat with others, and see what helps them. We all have

different opinions here, and thats what makes it so great. I love this

group, have been here a long time. Its helped me so much.

I hope you stay awhile, and please talk with your doctor, get some

relief, Tawny

Kathy,

Welcome to the group. I am sorry that you are still having so much

pain. I don't have fibro, my daughter does and it is quite painful.

She only goes to a pain clinic and they do not address her fibro just

her pain. I worry about her on some much pain medication.

I have been on MTX for 15 months. I remember not getting much relief

from it though. I take prednisone to keep the inflammation down and it

what keeps my pain at a functioning level.

I'm not much help to you, but I do hope you get some insight.

Welcome, Kathy. I hope you are able to find the answers you are

looking for. This is a wonderful group with a wealth of information,

compassion and understanding as we are all in the same boat.

Just an FYI - my Rheumy didn't want me to take OTC Ibuprofen while I

am taking the Methotrexate because they both can affect the liver and

kidneys. I take 6-2½mg pills of Methotrexate per week, 1mg of Folic

Acid daily EXCEPT on the day of the MTX, 1500mg of Sulphasalazine

twice daily, 600mg of Neurontin morning & noon and 1200mg at bedtime.

I take 10mg of Oxycodone for the pain and there are still days when I

feel like nothing is working.

If after 8 weeks with the MTX you are still not feeling any relief,

I'd place a call to your Rheumy to see if there is anything else they

can recommend. Best of luck to you. Please keep us

posted...........Doreen :)
