RE: Women of the 99% ???/Healthcare and birth control

I want to be able to choose what my insurance covers. Of course, it gets

complicated with huge insurance policies written by the insurance companies

themselves, but if I were to have a conscientious objection to a certain

coverage, like birth control pills or Viagra, I could shop around and find one

that does not cover it. That is, if the free market were really free of

government intrusion. Instead of focusing on whether it’s a good idea to have

an insurance policy cover this or that, we should focus on defending our freedom

and liberty.

This whole issue “stems from a decision by the Obama Administration to mandate

that religious employers, including schools, hospitals, and charities, provide

health care coverage for abortion-inducing drugs and contraception despite the

fact that such coverage is in total contradiction of many of these groups’

core religious beliefs. Some have attempted to make this a debate about other

issues, but despite their efforts, the core complaint about this anti-conscience

mandate remains: The President’s policy is an unprecedented attack on all

Americans’ rights as protected by the First Amendment. And those who prize

religious liberty aren’t backing down.

Individual liberties are in jeopardy, and the assault on freedoms is not limited

just to the right to practice one’s faith. Indeed, the power granted to the

federal government under Obamacare is boundless, and Washington will have

growing leverage to make decisions that alter our lives in ways that can’t

even be predicted.†Quotes taken from the following article:

that might flag your email address as a " live " one and then they might sell it

Could we please leave the political rants for another list?

This is not about contraception. If it were, perhaps we could also throw in

coverage for vasectomies. This is about women's access to health care. As an

educated health care professional I'm sure you know that these medications are

used to treat medical conditions.

Since you're all for individual liberties and rights, I would kindly suggest

that you stay out of my uterus.

I'm sure those of us who favor the ability of women to make some decisions on

their own (really, we don't need the Republican, Democrat or any other party to

get involved in our reproductive choices. Just give us access) could find blogs

and news items that lean towards our views. These discussions never get solved

in this sort of format, so perhaps we could stop this now.

You favor the argument that access to certain medications used by women should

be limited. I favor women having the ability to make choices.
