Usually, " mixed connective tissue disease " refers to an overlap of

lupus, systemic sclerosis (scleroderma), and polymyositis. People with

MCTD often have anti-RNP antibodies.

The coexistence of lupus and RA in an individual is sometimes called " rhupus. "

In true rhupus, the individual has highly RF and/or anti-CCP positive,

erosive RA plus anti-dsDNA and/or anti-Sm (or other antibodies

specific to lupus - not just ANA) positive lupus with kidney and/or

central nervous system involvement.
