Appointment will be made as an ASSISTANT OR ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR in Exercise Physiology. The successful candidate will contribute to both the teaching and the research missions of the Division of Exercise Physiology, which is ranked 7th nationally by the Chronicle of Higher Education. Candidates with postdoctoral training and who have a publication record using modern basic and/or translational approaches, relevant teaching experience, and whose research complements the research strengths of the faculty in Exercise Physiology, including diabetes/obesity, cardiovascular disease, sarcopenia/muscle biology, stroke, motor control or cancer biology are particularly encouraged to apply. The potential for research collaborations with the Center for Cardiovascular and Respiratory Sciences (http://www.hsc.wvu.edu/ccrs/), Center for Neuroscience (http://www.hsc.wvu.edu/wvucn/), Babb Randolph Cancer Center (http://www.wvucancer.org/research/Collaborative-Research-Initiatives or a Mission-Based Center (http://www.hsc.wvu.edu/som/Centers-and-Institutes.aspx) within the C. Byrd Health Sciences Center, is expected. This appointment is offered in accordance with the provisions of West Virginia University as described in the Faculty Handbook (http://www.wvu.edu/~acadaff/fac/Handbook/). A competitive salary, startup funds, research space and equipment will be provided commensurate with experience. Appointment at the level of an Assistant Professor will require evidence of postdoctoral training, success/potential for obtaining extramural funding for research, and evidence of strong peer-reviewed publications in this area of research. Appointment as an Associate Professor or higher will require evidence of extramural grant funding (e.g., NIH R01 or equivalent), evidence of successful teaching and mentoring of graduate students to degree completion, and meet the promotion and tenure guidelines for this position. The appointment is available July 1, 2012.
