Guest guest
, This may sound strange to you but you daugther WILL BEAT deafness. I think you should read the above line at least 20 times or until it sinks in. I can say this because I have been there and I am 100% certain it is true. I still hate deafness and don't think I will ever get used to it. At the same time, there are a vast number of things I never thought I'd be able to do as a deaf person but I evenually found a way to do them. Deafness is a big handicap but there are some positives too. I think deafness makes you more creative in your approach to a problem. Your body has a huge un-tapped potential to adapt. Deafness will make you see that. So what about your girl? LOOK AFTER HER LONG-TERM HEALTH! Unfortunately, I don't know the best way to do this and I don't think anyone does. However, I think it would be wrong to go after a certain treatment just because it may prolong her hearing. What about her future? Please understand I am not trying to tell you what to do but I hope I've given you a different persective on NF2. Guest guest
Hi , Thankyou for taking the time to share your feelings. I know that my daughter will beat deafness in a sense that she will adapt and i most certainly am looking out for her quality of life....however if there is something out there that can be done to prevent it...i am going for it. My daughter is well aware of what is facing her, she takes asl classes and started researching on the net. Her feelings are very important to me and she is scared. I keep assuring her that no matter what happens life does go on and she WILL adapt. Im in this 5 years now and i used to cry alot and be in denial for my child but i have learned to just " live " and conquer but also never give up on hope. Thanks again for your support, from ny
