Guest guest
Hello, My our kids though different have a lot of similarity. My son Mark was on Clonidine for quite some time. It started not to work and he had the side effect of increased appetite (which wasn't bad at first). He has not been switch to Wellbutrin SR and is doing great. At first it kept him up at night until he adjusted to it now he sleeps much better too. Now just to find the answer to the incontinence issue that started at 16. Guest guest
THanks for the reply , I am hoping it will work for Kennedy, these behaviours are just heartbreaking for me. We have tried all the suggestions for behaviour management, etc but they aren't helping and I don't want her being isolated because of these anti-social behaviours - especially when she is doing SO very well in so many other areas. ~ Weir Mom to Kennedy, 4yr old CHARGEr, 13, 11, and wife to Graeme New Brunswick, Canada Visit the Weir Website: http://personal.nbnet.nb.ca/gweir ICQ# 1426476 Re: clonidine Hello, My our kids though different have a lot of similarity. Guest guest
Steffi, Sorry to hear about your experiences with lately, I know all about it. The toughest thing for us is the nose blowing, and then using it as a weapon....very anti-social... Plus the fact she can't sit still anymore. It's tough.... Hope the new drug continues to work. ~ Weir Mom to Kennedy, 4yr old CHARGEr, 13, 11, and wife to Graeme New Brunswick, Canada Visit the Weir Website: http://personal.nbnet.nb.ca/gweir ICQ# 1426476 clonidine , Hi it's Steffi here. We are again battling the same things with our kids! has already tried Clonidine. He did not do that great on it. It did nothing in the beginning, then we upped the dose. When we did that, it made him very tired, and after he woke up from sleeping, it was as if he was not on anything at all again. I have to go back and look at all the meds because I am getting confused with the generic names, but he was on Clonidine, Guanfacine, Ativan (which had a paradoxyl affect and made him 100 times more hyper), and now Thioridazine. We are still playing with the dose on this med. So far, has stopped hitting himself (he gave himself 2 black eyes before), stopped hitting others, stopped biting himself, stopped banging his head onto the floor. He is still very, very " antsy " and is stimming alot. It's hard to get him to concentrate or focus on one activity for more than a couple of minutes. He jumps from one toy to the next and throws the toys when he is done. It's sorta crazy here lately! But on a extremely positive side, he is now putting 3 signs together, matching, sorting and learning every day. We were in such a rut before because his entire day consisted of hitting and stimming and biting. One thing at a time, right. By the way, we have been having a hard time putting to sleep because after the last dose of the Thioridazine wears off, he is wild again. We may use the Clonidine to help him fall asleep on days that he just can't calm down enough. He never naps or relaxes during the day...it's go go go! He lost 3 lbs since the summer because of the hyperactivity. Ok, I'm blabbing on and on. Talk to you soon. Steffi
