Guest guest
Hi Debbie! My aunt who doesn't have an autoimmune disease, FMS or RA had to have them for awhile...I believe in her case it was because her iron was low. I'll have to ask her if she still gets them. But still do try to read many of your notes. Today saw my GI for follow up check up. Told him stomach pain wakes me up at night often. So he ordered lab to check my Iron and Vitamin B-12 levels. So now wondering if anyone of you get Vitamin B-12 shots and for what reason. Have to wait for my lab results to know if I will need those shots too. hugs, Debbie L
Guest guest
He is looking for Pernicious Anemia...a syndrome in which the body does not make enough red blood cells due to a lack of B12. Do you feel tired most of the time? I used to have issues with it when I was a strict vegetarian, the shot gave me a great amnount of energy, but the drop of was terrible when the effects wore off. Guest guest
Thanks for responding Alice. Wouldn't he have ordered a CBC if he suppected Pernicious Anemia? Makes sense that he is doing that lab. I am tired most of the time but thought maybe it was from my fibro. Could use more energy though. Guest guest
Hi Deb, My mother had vasculitus 20 years ago and it seems to have gone into remission however, she does have Pernicious Anemia, which is a lack of B-12 in her system. This resulted in neuropathy in her legs which is not reversable, she started with her stomach going numb and it spread to her legs, she didn't go to the doctor until it was too late. She gets regular B-12 shots now. Hope this answers your question. in PA [ ] anyone receive Vitamin B-12 shots? Hi all, Not a big responder to this group since I don't have RA.
