Guest guest
Hi Chris! Great to hear from you! Thank you so much for your input! I always value your advice and am never offended I thought when she asked about numbness, it was likely she was thinking something with the nerve. I sometimes suffer from parestesia (I know I spelled this wrong!) in my hands and legs and sometimes feet. I notice if I press the back of my right elbow it too hurts...so I'm wondering if it could be the inflammatory issue. I'm going to look for the forearm brace that she mentioned. She said I could get one at the pharmacy and the pharmacist could help me choose it. I'm going to physical therapy tomorrow too so I can ask him as well. I'm hoping to just get one thru the pharmacy or the physical therapist. Awhile back, when I needed a knee brace, we were thinking of just a really simple one that was lightweight and went around the knee. Instead, they wrote me a script and sent me to a medical supply and they got me a brace for each leg that goes almost halfway up the thigh and the hole opens up at the kneecap. They are so heavy and its difficult to get on under clothes! It's probably horrible but I hardly wear them. I'll keep an eye on the right elbow as well so I can let her know at my next visit which is November unless I have a crisis that its bilateral. Hope you are well and as always I appreciate your advice and medical knowledge! From: Petheram <chris65peth@...> Subject: [ ] re elbow pain help... Date: Tuesday, July 29, 2008, 3:31 PM Hello again , So sorry to hear of your new pain..... Doesn't it seem characteristic of this cruel group of inflammatory conditions that there always seems to be lurking the possibility of developing an surprising new pain or symptom! It is as though the gremlins have been working on a new bit of mischief to try out!! From 'speaking ' with you some while back I don't believe you will be offended by my writing this.... but I am aware I am here as a 'guest' in this remarkable group and hope I don't intrude. My thoughts on the testing you had would be that the doctor was checking whether a nerve was being pressed on ,( entrapped),locally near the elbow, especially as she offered a steroid shot. You particularly describe it felt like bone pain, that also could be due to local (immune)inflammatio n.From your description it seems she thought that more likely than that the pain referred from higher up, pinching of the nerve roots in the neck, eg.Physical exam would have suggested this to her , although you say sadly she did not explain. Oh, This is so complicated I will try and look up more info.
