Guest guest
Sjogrens Syndrome is another common autoimmune disease common to those who have RA, less so to those who have PA. The synptoms are dry eyes, dry mouth, dry private parts, etc.. The cause for the dryness is that the misguided immune system attacks the perfectly healthy moisture producig glands throughout the body- and slowly destroys them. I have a pretty aggressive case. My corneas are very dry right now, as is evidenced by many dry spots . The eyes sting, burn, and the vision is blurry too. There cure for Sjogrens yet.. In order to be properly diagnosed, you should ask your eye doctor for a special eye test where he puts a small strip of paper in your eye to measure the moisture. It is called the Schirmers test. Also ask him to examine your corneas throughly with a yellow stain/dye. Next, go to an ENT and ask for a minor salivary glaned biopsy. They will make a tiny incision in between the gums and the cheek. The doctor will remove a few minor salivary glands and send them to a pathologist to see if they are chronically inflammed or not. Your rheumatologist can also run two extra blood tests too, but not everyone itests positive for these tests who has Sjogrens . I also recomend looking uo Sjogrens in the archives of the group and goint to do an internet search to the /sjogrens Syndrome Foundation. I personally subscribe to their monthly newsletter called " MoistureSeekers " and it is excellent " I hope this helps, Stack group founder

Guest guest
I was thought to have Sjorgren's Syndrome by my doctor because of other health issues, however, came up negative. I have heard that Sjorgren's patients often have severe ear problems. Culp <jfculp@...> wrote: Has anyone with c-toma in this group been diagnosed with sjogrens syndrome? Stay in the know. Guest guest
Hi everyone, My RA Doctor prescribed Pilocarpine Hydrochloride tablets to try for Dry mouth. Has anyone used this drug.? Any side effects to note. He told me it can cause severe sweating. So I have hesitated using it. Thanks for any help you can provide.
