First of all, for some of you newbies with the disease,  I would like to warn

you that people have different reactions to drugs.  I have been on Plaquenil for

over 11 years.  Outside of more gas the fist few weeks, I haven't had any side

effects from it.  I have been on MTX pills for a month and a half and I was

quite nervouse to take it since so many people have complained about nausea and

other problems.  I have had no bad side effects at all even when my doctor has

increased the dose.   Just to let you know that I am not superwoman or anything

like that, I have allergies or intolerances to seven medications so it just

happens that these do not give me problems.

When I started having joint pain, I weighed about 115 lbs.  (underweight for my

height).  When I was at my worse before plaquenil and cortisone drugs, I weighed

140 lbs.  Now many years later, with my symptoms under more control, my weight

is 175lbs.  The arthritis preceeded my weight gain and certainly was partly a

reason for it since I became less active and also the medicines I have been on.
