Guest guest
Molly, A good rheumatologist will listen to your symptoms and examine you in order to try to arrive at a diagnosis. Lab results are not the only way to tell. Sometimes they might order x-rays to see if any joint damage has already occurred. Many people have to wait a while before they do get a definite diagnosis, so be persistent. If you don't think your first rheumy is trying hard enough, you can always try to find a better one. I'm sure a or , our moderators, will soon pipe up with some appropriate articles for you to read. Guest guest
To everyone: I have been sick to the point of being bedridden for weeks for nine months. My bloodwork has always been negative. I started researching illnesses caused by different " bugs " several weeks ago. I had my doc test me for different mycoplasmas and specifically for c. pneumonia. It came back positive for c. pneumonia even though to my knowledge I have never had pneumonia and havent run a fever since I was eight years old. I asked my doc to put me on special dosing doxycillen and clarithromycin specifically for c. pneumonia and after only about a week and a half I feel like a new person, almost like my new self. I have been diagnosed with polymyalgia rheumatica, rheumatoid arthritis and Dupuytrens disease, it itself a very nasty disease. I now believe the painful nodules in my hands are Flexor Tenosynovitis because my hands and fingers were so very swollen for so long (fingers now normal and nodules going flatter) I know most of you out there are truly RA but if there is one of you who is seronegative with not much RA in your family who can benefit from my experience I will be happy. This has been the worst year of my life in terms of pain and sickness and I believe now all because of this nasty little bug was lurking in my system. Either that or miraculously I have recovered from all these illnesses. I do pray a lot but somehow I think it was the bug. Anyway, sorry for the long post. a
