A Christmas baby huh? Very cool!! So, we are the same age? If you have a myspace, be sure and add me! I've been on the site for a few months now. I've been explanted for exactly 3 weeks now! I had my saline implants for 4 years and started having terrible symptoms having one deflated this past spring. I had it replaced, but my health kept declining over the last 9 months. I had every test known to man...nothing wrong! But, I've had severe left side pain, strange flu-like aches and pains, brain fog, severe fatigue, the list goes on!! I am already feeling a lot better after the explant, but I know I still have a LONG way to go! But, these ladies are wonderful and have helped me so much! So, what about you? What's your story! Little Elijah is due February 2nd! Yes, he is my first and I am SUPER excited!!! I turn 29 on Tuesday... I think Myspace said you're 29? I'm sorry that you're going through this horrible experience... but am very happy that you found this group! I've been MIA for a while, but I can tell you this: I would feel extremely isolated if I had never found them! Their love and support has been just incredible (Through the good and bad times)! My story (In a quick nutshell): Got implants at age 19, the Doctor butchered them, had them re-done 3 weeks later. He did JUST as horrible job the 2nd time! I had to wait 6 weeks until he'd operate again. I was so devastated I just wanted them OUT! I had them taken out for a year... until I decided that I DID really want them. I researched for quite some time and found a better doctor to do some internal reconstruction (to fix the old job's mess) along with ANOTHER breast augmentation. I had that set in for over 6 years and slowly got sick. Small things bothered me, but I never put two and two together until I almost couldn't FUNCTION! My whole life has turned upside down. I used to be in the fitness industry and struggle everyday just to get a " walk " in... I've been explanted for 1 1/2 years (May 2006). I then married my best friend of 10 years (11 months after explant)... and on the honeymoon got pregnant! lol! At first I was terrified that my body wouldn't be able to handle the pregnancy... at first I was trembling really badly, getting dizzy, couldn't breath, etc... Basically all of my normal symptoms but intensified with the pregnancy... I cried and prayed... and cried and prayed. My husband was and IS STILL so supportive. One day my symptoms almost STOPPED! I still get most of them, but very slightly! I think it's a miracle... for my little baby boy! I hope it stays like this AFTER the birth... but even if it just maintains until my angel is born, I'll be grateful for that! =) I'll add you as a friend on Myspace now! Patty must have posted them....they are all so beautiful! Wow, you have been through a lot! Seems like so many women have more then 1 or 2 surgeries with these implants. That's definitely not something that you consider when you decide to get them. I wish we could get the word out there that these things are NOT a one time surgery, no matter how much the plastic surgeons tell us they are! I'm so glad to hear that you are doing so good after your explant and through your pregnancy. Hopefully you never have to deal with them again, even after you deliver your little one. It seems like most women on here take 2 years to feel normal and completely healthy again, you are almost at the point, so I'm sure by next year your symptoms will be completely gone. I'm so glad I found this group too. I don't know what I would have done without all of them...felt VERY lonely and scared I'm sure! This is a time that you should tuck away into your memory bank and also ask your doctors to perhaps measure your hormone levels (not normally done during pregnancy, but it would be good info for you to have). I say that because if your symptoms return after your pregnancy is over, you may want to try to work with your hormone levels to help keep your symptoms at bay. I strongly believe that this implant illness affects our endocrine system in many ways-- thyroid, adrenal, reproductive system hormones. They all need to be playing together like a finely tuned orchestra. Just a thought ...I am really hoping that your symptoms just stay away for good! You are going to enjoy that baby! I'm so excited for you both. You sound like you are so happy. Are you going to be a stay at home mom? Which doctor do you think would order those tests? My OB/GYN or my Endocrinologist? Last time I saw my Endocrinologist he said that I was fine (minus high levels of cortisol), and that he didn't need to see me until AFTER Elijah's birth. He also mentioned that he thinks I suffer from ANXIETY (hence my tremors)... that REALLY ticked me off... SOOO I'm not too excited to see him again! It's been FOUR+ Years since I've been sick and I'm STILL getting doctors that say I should see someone about anxiety!! (*#@?!^ & %!) GOSH, it's soooo irritating. My OB would probably be willing to order the tests if she can... To answer your question about working after the pregnancy: I just DON'T KNOW!!! I REALLY do NOT want to, but I don't think we can afford to live soley off of my husbands current salary! It would REALLY tough... The thought of leaving my little one with a complete stranger absolutely BREAKS MY HEART, though... =( I'm brainstorming on different positions that would allow me to work AND be with him...
