Guest guest
Hi- I was diagnosed with RA 8 years ago. I am now 33 and have recently, also, been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. In addition, I had a pinched nerve in my L5 region (lower right hand side of back) that went undiagnosed, misdiagnosed, etc. for months and that nerve never completely healed so I still have pain, tingling, and numbness in my lower back, hip, leg, and foot. The rhuematologist that originally diagnosed me 8 years ago had me on Plaquenil, Predisone, and Lodine for pain. The Lodine didn't seem to help so I stopped that years ago and still to this day don't have a pain reliever that really helps. I am still on the Plaquenil and Predisone. I recently started seeing a new rhuematologist. I wanted to look at other treatment options, which my orignal rhuematologist wasn't opened to. I was having a lot of pain, stiffness, etc. that was greatly affecting my sleep, daily life and my demeanor. She started me on Methotrexate which has caused nausea, headaches, dizziness, etc. I have told the dr. this and she wanted me to go back to 2 pills per week (which is where she had me start). I also broke out in this horrible rash all over my face and in various spots all over my body. I am really tired of my prescription list continually growing and the side effect list following closely behind. The more side effects the more pills/vitamins I take to counteract the side effects. Has anyone tried treating their RA and/or Fibromyalgia, solely, with Alternative treatments (holistic, accupuncture, etc. etc.)? If so, how succesful were you and have your symptoms been reduced by this treatment? Would you also mind sharing treatment methods? Thank you in advance.
