Guest guest
Dear Forum I am happy to go through the comments of Amitji. I know in this ultramodern age a kid of 6 or 7 is now dancing to the tune of " kajrare kajrare " and all sorts of filmi songs. The psyche of young people is changing. They are well ahead of their age as far as sexual changes at social physical or mental levels are concerned. Mr. Haldhar is associated with project KAVACH. My intention is to contain these young minds with some intervention measures without snatching their independence i.e. applying KAVACH to them. Lifestyle measures of young people shoud be addressed. By this measure some(if not all ) will follow a risk free path.Of course, today's youth are like Niagra falls. We can not allow this energy to flow like this. We need a check dam. Thanks. SADHU. Guest guest
Dear Forum, Dr.Kohli and Mr. Halder have rightly pointed out the importance of correct and consistent use of condoms. Many a time we stress on condom usage but we fail to stress on consistent usage both with regular and non-regular partners. My previous experience of working in a trucker's STI prevention program is that, they are more in favour with skin-to skin touch and the perils of their profession are perceived far greater than the probability of contracting HIV in a single unprotected sexual act. Further our program research (qualitative & quantitative) in states like Rajasthan, West Bengal and Orissa have revealed that these truckers/mobile or migrant population have a lot of inhibitions against condoms. Carrying condoms is not lot looked upon well, further condoms is something they associate only with CSWs. In states like Rajasthan (and perhaps elsewhere) truckers have " settings " i.e. they solicit sexual favors only from a particular lady at their stop-over. Every time they cross this stop-over they would approach only this lady and no one else, further they do not use condoms with this " setting " since they have faith and think that she's available only to him. This is dangerous since in his absence the lady also solicits favor to others. One of the other reasons for low condom usage is the failure to use it correctly, complains of condom tearing are abundant. The reason is that, they lack proper usage guidelines. It is really important to stress the importance of consistent condom usage with ALL partners, even wife and can be address through Inter-personal communication (IPCs) or through mass media activites such as Nukkad Nataks at their congregation points etc. Regards Chandrani e-mail: <diamail2me@...>
