You are definitely not alone. All of us with RA have had a period of

" hanging out in the wind. " You're on the right track with a

rheumatologist to handle your case. This is a good group to belong to;

it is very supportive, and you can always vent here if you need to. We

all know very well what you're talking about. Our moderator, ,

keeps us well educated by posting pertinent articles.

Sometimes it takes a while to even get diagnosed, so you're fortunate

that you do have a diagnosis. Sometimes it takes a while of

experimentation for your rheumy to find the right combination of meds

to control your RA. Mine is being controlled very well with Enbrel, one

of the biologic DMARD's.

Ask any questions you have, and someone will be sure to answer them.

Welcome to the group.

Welcome! This is a great group and I hope you find the information you

are looking for here. I was only diagnosed last year, I have asked

many questions and someone (or many) is always ready to help me.

Donna,

The damage that RA can do is much scarier than the adverse side

effects of the medications. They have to list all of the possible

effects, but this doesn't mean that you will get all of them. I have

been on Enbrel for over five years, and it works wonderfully well for

me with no adverse side effects. I am lucky enough not to get frequent

infections. Enbrel is working so well that I have started using half

as much.
