Guest guest
Kami No problem I listen so I know whats up with RA. I am diagnosed with that and also fibromyalgia. It seems like some meds help some people and not others ( so far. ) I am going to mention the humira to my doc. Yes, I have been a big witch from this pain. I pray a lot and try to be nice. My family are in denial, My kids think RA is something that takes many years to affect you. It took about 6 months to break me down completely. My husband sees how much pain I am in. He is so sweet. He does everything he can to help me. Lots of luck hope you get the right meds that work. So I went to the doctor on Tuesday and he noticed that there has been no improvement with my hands during the 6 weeks of 20 mg MTX..... I brought my Humira pens with me and did my first self-injection. I really REALLY had high hopes for this medication!! !!!! Maybe I still do but good heavens.... I am in more pain than normal today and one miserable umm..... lady. (And I am using that term VERY loosely.... I am quite the witch with a Sooooo..... He told me.... If I see no improvement in 2 weeks, I am to start another regime of steroids.... . (12 days starting 20 for 3, 15 for 3, 10 for 3, and 5 for 3) I want to start them NOW. Being the good patient I am.... I think I am going to pop a Vicodin or 2 and head to bed and see what it's like when I wake up... I am pretty sure I will be calling him tomorrow and begging to start the steroids.... . Thanks for listening! :-) *~ Kami ~*
Guest guest
Kami Vicodine does nothing for me from day one. Oh I take that back. It helps my headaches. It don't make me tired. Glad it helps you some. Clora May From: ~ Kami ~ <kamilleon@...> Subject: [ ] Increase in pain since Humira " " < > Date: Sunday, July 20, 2008, 12:23 PM Ugh. Guest guest
It can take the Humira a while to work - my rheumy warned me that it might take 2 or 3 doses before I really noticed a difference. It did seem to help me after a couple of days, though. I've gone through most of the various pain medications, and settle on Vicodin as about the only one that didn't cause me major problems. I take it sparingly, because more than a few a week and it does seem to quit working, although my hubby will ask me if I need a Vicodin, and I know that I'm getting realllly cranky! Good luck to you, hope you can get that pain under control! Guest guest
Give Humira at least 2 or 3 dozes. I noticed some difference after my second injection (I was taking 1 every 14 days), but my rheumy told me I should really notice a difference at 2 months....and I did! I felt like I could take on the world and I tried to make up for everything I had been missing. I was already on 15 mg MTX once a week, 2 Celebrex per day and 1 Lyrica 75 mg each night. I was on all that for about 2 months then started on Humira. After a high liver level on my recent blood test my rheumy lowered my MTX to 12.5 mg per week and increased my Humira to 1 injection every 10 days instead of 14 days. I really noticed a difference after 3 weeks off of that ONE MTX ...really achy, no energy, pain where I hadn't had pain in months. So tonight I take my Humira with the new one every 10 day regimen. I'm anxious to see how it will work. My doctor says if I'm still having pain after being on all that meds it means the RA is more agressive than he thought and increases the meds to fight it! Whatever it takes to prevent me from being cripled like my mom. She has mostly scoliosis and osteoarthritis and is 82 but she's almost bent over in a 90 degree angle and in constant pain. I'm hoping and praying all I'm taking now will serve as a preventive method to help my future with RA. I know I have to live with it and deal with it the best I can, so I'll continue to try. Good luck to you with the Humira. Trust your rheumy but also BE INFORMED. Study whats available to you and work with your doctor. > > Ugh. > > So I went to the doctor on Tuesday and he noticed that there has been no improvement with my hands during the 6 weeks of 20 mg MTX.....
